Tell us about yourself...
"Hi! My name is Max Knott, I’m the Workshop Manager at our Chertsey store. You'll also be able to catch me at our workspace at The Queen's Stage cyclist-friendly pub in Effingham on some weekends too.
"I have been in the cycling industry, mostly as a mechanic, for the last 24 years! I started in my local bike shop as a gap year job and it seems I’m still on that gap year all these years later. Along with being part of the great team here at Bike Hero, I also work as a mechanic for the domestic Sigma Sports-Cannondale cycling team. Not only this but I've worked with the British Cycling Junior and Under-23 teams in recent years at such events as the Paris-Roubaix Juniors and most recently the Tour de L'Avenir (which is regarded as the Junior Tour de France for Under-23 Nation riders). It was a fantastic event and you can catch up on all the action from that event on a GCN special that was filmed over the two weeks of the event.
"When I have any spare time, I enjoy taking clients away on organised ride events all over Europe, the most recent being a week away riding “one day ahead” of some of the stages of this year’s TDF."
What’s your favourite ride?
"Now that I’ve moved out to Wokingham, my favourite ride has to be straight out my front door and onto a small loop from mine to Henley, onto Marlow and back to mine, taking in some lovely roads and views of the outskirts of the Chiltern Hills."
What’s your current favourite bike?
"I’ve always been a fan of the way that Cannondale road bikes ride and so my current road bike is a Cannondale Synapse with rim brakes (controversial... I know!) and an Ultegra/Dura-Ace Di2 mix.
"My next bike definitely belies my age as I’m in the market for a new GT Zaskar for this year….if you know, you know!"
